Hi Everyone,
I used to do a lot of beach dives in Cali, but havent been diving since I moved to Colorado last June. Does anyone do any lake/reservoir diving at Chatfield or Cherry Creek? If not are there any decent places to get a few dives in?

Thanks,
John

Don't ever dive in Cherry Creek, it's drainage control.. the proper name for Cherry Creek is actually "Cherry Gutter" or "Cherry Sewer"

Aurora or Chatfield like Charlieo said are good for in town though :) I'm pretty much always up for going whenever I can

I dove Aurora in June, and the vis was OK. Other have done so in July, and the reported vis was poor.

Chatfield vis is generally worst, but CharlieO enjoys diving there on the weekdays, and I think it is high time I dove this spot (never have). I'll set something up for a weeknight dive after work in the next week or so, and post it. It's right on my way home, so maybe a 4:30pm arrival would work. I think the entrance fee is $5 or so.

You are welcome to join us at the Blue Hole In Sept for our annual RMO get together. I'm hoping for a good turnout. I know there is some interest from CO folks, so we are going to have to work out driving/hotel arrangements.

The high mountain lakes in the Summer can have some good vis. Right now with the current weather (rain), I'm guessing the vis is not going to be so good due to run off. Vis on a good day at one of the high mountain lakes can be 30 feet, but I've also dove when it's been 5' or less.

Diving in CO is difficult, or impossible if one demands good vis. It's generally a mixed bag, and you just have to go dive and take what you get. I generally dive the Blue Hole 6 times a year (weekends) just to log some hours UW. Those are fun trips, but gas prices are making things more expensive. It is a 6 hour drive from Denver to Santa Rosa. However there are a number of folks that routinely do that trip.

That's why I moved to Sunny South Florida... the Res just doesn't cut it for the couple months a year and then the trip to the Blue Hole during the winter. I miss all my Denver buddies though... some I've seen more since I moved here. :eyebrow:

Cool thanks! I would be up for doing an evening dive at chatfield whenever, so let me know.

Ron and All,
Lyn and I are planning on being at Chatfield on Tuesdays and Thursdays for exercise and skill practice at about 5:00 P.M. We can make it a loose get together group.

Hey CharlieO (if that is REALLY your name! :rofl3:)

So is that EVERY tuesday/thursday?

Not sure I can make it this week, but maybe next...

Yep. that's what we are planning on. We may change to other days in September.
