Hey all,
I have no idea where to ask this so I guess it's going here:
I am looking to move into a new apartment and was just reading over the lease, but it states that I am not allowed to "store or use any hazardous materials" in the apartment. I own five SCUBA cylinders, one of which is a 40 cuft oxygen deco bottle. Luckily I believe I can negotiate with the landlady to work this out, but my two questions are:
1) Does anyone know if storing my tanks would indeed fall under this exclusion? I'm 90% sure it would since the DOT classifies non-flammable compressed gases and compressed oxygen as hazmats. I'm curious if anyone else has had to deal with this type of thing before.
2) Does anyone have some tips for negotiating here? What can I say to convince my new landlady that SCUBA tanks are not the type of hazmat to be worried about?
[I'm not expecting 100% accurate legal advice
]
Thanks!
