Anybody know if the digital Pro strobes have special circuitry for the auto setting inside the dc600 or if the auto setting will read all cameras?

What do you mean the strobes auto? Why would it not work with other cameras. It says on the description: "Finally a universal flash for all digital cameras"? But that it does have a little * next to it, anyone know what that means?

The auto setting only has to do with the flash. The sensor on the flash head is what determines the setting to used based on how bright the image is. It doesn't matter which camera the strobe is attached to. However, with a non-SeaLife camera, you would need to get our Flash Link adaptor so that the flash link cable has a way of connecting to your camera. If you are going to use the strobe with another camera, you will have to play with the settings to determine which one works best with the camera. Take the same picture on each of the 4 settings, then review to see which came out the best. Then set the flash to the chosen setting, put it in auto, and you are good to go!

The * indicates that it will work with all brands of cameras but they have to have up to 4 pre-flashes.

Thanks.

Thanks Denise, the two strobes fire fine using the flash link adapter. I adapted one flash link adapter to take two optical cables otherwise I'd have to use two flashlink adapters attached to the housing.

OK here's some feedback on my first dual strobe outing on a non sealife camera. For the life of me I could not get any back scatter. A good thing I'd say, excellent actually. Looking back I'd say that I did mount the two strobes a bit farther apart than before on the DC600 and also the two arms were bent out and away from the body. On most shots I had to take the strobes off the auto setting. I had the left strobe on 5 and the right strobe around 2 - 3. I'll keep you posted on the setup as it develops.

I had to hold the lil black thingy on all dive but that was a minor issue. My dive time remained the same. Hopefully with the contact cement and the sillicone it will stay stuck better next week. That's the same method I used to get the velcro part stuck to the Ikelite housing.

I'll try to get some pics posted later.

Just a brief note in regard to SeaLife. I bought a DC 500 and stobe about a year ago. The housing flooded on a dive of less than 40'. A Sealife technician examined the housing and apparently found nothing wrong. As such, the only plausible conclusion was that the flooding was attributable to some improper action on my part. I respectfully do not concur.

I was not at all impressed with this camera or the indifferent response from SeaLife. Rest assured, I will be taking my business elswhere and intend to share my expereince with anyone considering the purchase of a SeaLife product.

I used my DC600 in Caymen and Rotan. Went as deep as 80 fsw and had no problem except for the fact that iI need more practice and patience. When I got back home though my wife's dog somehow got my case and demolished it. Replacement was very reasonable.

My Reefmaster has been functioning perfectly for the past five years. I've taken it on numerous trips to Roatan and Key Largo with no instances of flooding.:)

We apologize for your unsatisfactory experience with SeaLife. We researched our service records and found one DC500 return from Peoria, AZ within the last year, which we assume is your return. Our records indicate that the underwater housing was inspected and tested underwater to 200 ft by our service technician but we could not find any leaks or problems. We concluded that there was no damage or defect with the housing, but the camera was water damaged and beyond repair. If there was any damage or defect to the housing, it would have leaked during our testing.

We do very much pride ourselves on excellent service. If there was any defect found we would have repaired or replaced the housing AND camera at no charge. We felt that the $150 replacement cost for a new camera was fair and reasonable. We promise to always listen to any additional information or feedback that you or any of our service customers have and take that into consideration when making warranty decisions.

If there is any more information that you can provide to our service department that we should consider, please email us directly at service@sealife-cameras.com.

Call Pioneer Research, who makes the SeaLife system, and see what they can do for you. They've been known to have wonderful support for folks who flood their systems.
I flooded my camera last week all I got from Pioneer was a offer of $50 off a new reefmaster mini for my old camera. Thats not really what I would call wonderful support.
