...For exitting the water, clip gear off, flop inside the boat(counterweight the other side), and pull gear up while counterweighting the canoe and praying intensely....
It's not a pretty landing but it works :rofl3:. I'm sure glad we found out it's OK to land the canoe instead.

Don't forget our trial dive at Becton before heading to Cypress. I thought you were nuts wanting to jump off a perfectly good canoe into that mudhole.

There was blue water as long as you stuck your head in that hole down there, LOL! For all we knew at the time, we could have been AT Cypress! :D I'm glad we headed a bit further upstream!

Divers know it as one name(with many different spelling possibilities), which you won't hear mentioned here. Locals know it as another name, which you won't hear mentioned here ;)

Searches will come up mostly clean online anyway.

You and me both... Its tough to pick which I want to take on next ;)

I was suprised by the cavern, much bigger than Cypress's cavern(still smaller than Morrison's) and shallow enough to enjoy for a good long time. Made for a very cool looking exit too.

D'Oh! How could I forget that? What a huge flotila... The main vessel of travel was seriously atleast 15x15 with two built in sofas. It dwarfed my dive yacht. Then the barge had several support inflatables piled around it. They looked like they were having a good time atleast. :rofl3:
Well, you did you a common name, and the bridge kind of narrows it down. I wont give it away though.

If you don't know the area, the bridge doesn't help at all with location. If you know the area, you likely know the spring regardless of this post. I didn't use a common name for the spring, diver, local, or otherwise :)

Nothing in this post gives away location, aside that its within a days drive from Cave Adventurers.

I'll never forget the first time trying to get Mat's 130's from his boat to the platform at Hole in the Wall.. or maybe it was vice versa. Lets just say the weight change on the boat made the rope tieing it to the platform loosen up and Mat and the doubles almost ended up in the Mill Pond.

Im with Josh, I will gladly deal with hassle to do a more remote, less common dive. One of these days ill have to let yall blindfold me and drag me out there to check it out...

Good dive sherpas aren't blindfolded, they're drugged to the point of losing memoryof location. :eyebrow:

Nice report Mat. I will be up your way (staying in Fort Morgan) the week of 9/20. Maybe we could hook up and go diving. I'd love to try to get out and do the Oriskany but I'm not too picky.

Ha fair enough.

You going to be diving next week at all Matt? Monday Ill be at JB and then Wednesday Im going to check out cypress for the first time. Then probably back to Marianna on Thursday. Any of you are welcome to join me and my dive buddy next week.

Hit me up closer to time, I'll never remember this far in advance. I'd be up for a beach dive or two almost certainly. The Oriskany is a great dive, but $$$.

Sure, I'll likely be diving somewhere, but it may be closer this way on the beach unless I'm working out your way. Cypress has a really fun cavern, you'll enjoy it! Gorgeous basin as well, and you'll get a taste of working to find the harder to reach divesites. I may be back in Marianna on Sunday and Monday next weekend(?).
