Hi all,

Thinking of traveling down to the Caymans in June...from what I've read so far, the best diving is on the east side of GC... is this right? Better than Little Cayman? So, if that is the case, can anyone suggest a dive resort on the east side of GC? We are experienced divers who are looking to come down and just dive! Okay, maybe have a few drinks as well...:D:eyebrow:

Thanks for any advice you can give...

Well, I consider the East End of Grand Cayman to be the equal of Little Cayman, although others might disagree. Check The Reef Resort and Morritt's Tortuga Club for places to stay, and Ocean Frontiers for a dive operator.

Went last year and stayed here ( Grand Cayman scuba diving cayman island scuba diving cayman island scuba resort cayman scuba training cayman cayman island scuba grand cayman scuba dive cayman islands scuba diving scuba diving in grand cayman scuba diving cayman scuba diving on gran ) - the diving was outstanding, and it was nice to be outside the hustle and bustle of town. Seems like everything in town is being worked on and the traffic is horrible - Cobalt coast is on the North end of the Eastern side of GC in a town called Hell (not kidding - the post office is painted red, google it). Divetech has a shop located at the Cobalt Coast with everything from tanks, nitrox, rebreather rentals, etc. - they even have their own little pier with a ladder on the end. Swim out about a hundred yards and you can dive the wall - vis was spectacular. The Cobalt Coast is definitely a "boutique" style resort - we had the entire place rented. The owner and all the staff were wonderful as is the restaurant. Sorry to ramble, good luck!

Cobalt Coast resort and Divetech are actually located on the Northwest side of Grand Cayman, about as far from east end as possible. That being said, north wall diving on Grand Cayman is spectacular and Divetech is a great operation. The diving on Little Cayman and Cayman Brac is a little better in my opinion, but there is no night life to speak of(if you need that). East end diving is very comparable to Little Cayman, but conditions can be rough there.

Cobalt Coast and Dive Tech are NOT on East End. Ocean Frontiers is and they get a lot of great reviews here.
Good luck and ENJOY!

Personally my opinion is that the diving on the East End is very good, but not equal to Little Cayman. I have dove East End with Ocean Frontiers and have dove off Little Cayman many times. The diving on the East end is superb but to campare and say it's the same as Bloody Bay or Jackson's Bight ... not in my book.

east end the equal to little cayman ARE you crazy??? :) I hate to compare anything as individual and special as diving but it seems that is what people do? Maybe just go and enjoy every place for what it has, not compare it to some thing else that it is not? Try it you might enjoy your hard earnt and exspensive vacations more????

Just an idea!

In 2006 I stayed at Morritt's on the East end. It's a very nice resort. Tortuga Divers (Red Sail) are located at the resort. I've heard a lot of negative reports regarding Red Sail, but the operation at Morritt's was very good. They have very nice boats and all of the dives were great. The dive site Snapper Hole is on the East End. It's a wonderful dive.

Well, Smile, I see that this is your only post on ScubaBoard and your profile is not filled out. Sooooo ... who are you? What is it about my previous post that stirred up such a vehement reaction?
