I just put together a trip report with lots of somewhat inept photos of my recent Raja 11 day liveaboard on the MSY Seahorse.

We headed out from Sorong through the Kri and Misool areas of Raja Ampat, down to Fak Fak and then onto Triton Bay.

The short version - it was great. It was my first visit to this area so it gave a good overview of the different areas. You could spend weeks out here diving these different places.

You can read the complete Raja Ampat liveaboard report on my site Divehappy.

Drop me a line if you need any info that I haven't included - having just looked at wahlaoeh's Raja report as well, I feel like I haven't been thorough enough!

Cheers
Chris

Thanks Rick! The big wobbegong was very nice, it didn't stir while I was taking pictures. I had to tweak it a little bit in Lightroom though.

@Travelnsj - thanks for the trip report link! I would love to go to Kri/Sorido sometime and meet Max Ammer. I'd like to learn more about all the wrecks he's found in the region too.

The viz was pretty variable throughout the trip. It will never be as good as Palau as far as I can work out - I'm guessing the marine life is so plentiful because there are so many nutrients in the water, which usually means not so good viz. But I may be wrong - i'm not a marine biologist.

I so want to go back to Palau - I did a three day liveaboard there last year with Expedition Fleet that was jawdropping. The sense of space because of the great viz is unreal! I wrote up a Palau report too - my pix are pretty bad on that one though - couldn't get any decent ones of the sharks at all.

@divingdog5 - which operator are you going to Misool with in July? I heard conditions get pretty rough after May, but not sure if that's right. Interested to know if Raja has year round diving.

Divehappy...Max has a new Liveaboard that is going to start up at the end of this year....He will be on it for the first year and his goal is to go to many uncharted places through out Raja...I saw the plans of this liveaboard in January....It will be the Ritz!....I am not a liveaboard person...I will be on this boat!

Wow - that is great news. Thanks for the tip! I will drop Papua Diving an email and see if I can find out more. Would be great to see photos etc

Apparently there are something like 20 different liveaboards now operating in the Raja area. But it's such a big area, I don't think it's a problem, as long as they co-operate and coordinate their dive schedules. I wish the boat operators in the Similans would do the same :(

I pm'ed you with the e-mail contact for the Antares. From what I understand some of the marketing people crew are coming from the H2o. Should be a great Liveaboard.
