If you freeze a thread but leave the comments, the replies just happen elsewhere. Nice idea, won't work.

Just the thread.

For the type of users that get frustrated and does the "You are a %$^^%$^% moron" post. They just need to cool off.

There will be Seagull type users (fly in and caca over everthing). They might have to be dealt with differently.

I like keeping the offending posts though. For good or bad, they reflect the user.

Very good point Jeff. What is hard in internet posting, someone can type something and mean one thing, and someone can read it to mean another. Unless you know someone really well, I think that happens a lot.

There is a huge difference between a troll, and a difference of opinion. I'd like to see that judged better.

I am sure most people have no idea who I am or what I am like in person. I can't expect them to understand what is behind each post.

How do you know?

You haven't tried it.

Plus..You wouldn't Opt-In...so why would you care?

Machine Gun [-]Kelly[/-] Kitty,
I think there might be some merit to leaving the posts to reflect the user. But it might be kind of fun to have that Robot from Lost in Space do a little annimation on the post and say, "Warning! Danger! Dr Smith---Poster is frozen! Warning! Danger! Dr. Smith Return to the ship!!"

I would be more in favor of freezing the offenders and let those having a civil chat to march on. And I just like that crazy robot with the dryer vent arms--gotta love 60's and 70's special effects.

It happens that way on all forums.

Too much work.

It would be easy for a Mod to post

"Thread Frozen for 24 hrs. Any threads created with Same subject will be deleted.

Thanks for your cooperation"

It will take a little bit of time, but just like the MOFia, I would bet the threads get self moderated (pretty much, not 100%, but not too bad).

Also, people will know who are **** disturbers are and socially they will get isolated.

BTW, the reason for the Anony post feature is so that people can tell management their feelings without revenge being sough around the board. Trying to continue a discussion that way is silly.

darn thing drives me nuts.

allows cowards to troll

Since they all look the same, its hard to keep of who/what you are talking with.

LOL...Oh well.

Yes the Anony post idea has been abused, as so many ideas are. I think it's time to turn it off and tell members to send their anonymous posts to Pete and Lawrence.

The PC-ness sometimes irritates the hell out of me (wonder if that get´s thru?)

It becomes a contest in who can write what without getting modded, goading and comments that dismiss other peoples oppinions as "beneath notice" without being blatantly rude...It just seems as if calling someone an ******* is a more efficient way of communication than suggesting that someone has a strong hint of equine decent in their posterior...allow both or none...

Bold type mine. This is what I was referring to. Why do you have to call anyone anything? If you believe in free speech, why not just accept their point of view without descending into name-calling? I just don't get it.
