Ok, I searched for a topic like this but I could not find it.
I would like opinions of and the differences in different certification entities. i.e. PADI vs NAUI, etc.
Also, I am interested in the AOW and specialty classes with SDI/TDI since my ERD class will probably be thru them this next year.
Also, who do you feel is the best? Most diver friendly? and such. What about Hogarthian and DIR diving?
All I can offer are the positive aspects of PADI instruction as I see them. The most important being that PADI makes you a lifelong diver by offering a variety of courses, trips, and side benefits.
-largest instruction program in the world, including the most dive centers
-most recognizable certification in the world
-part of the WRSTC, a world standards setting org
-Project Aware - a dedicated environmental foundation
-Travel Network - represents dive resorts around the world
-DSAT - technical wing of PADI, also does diving research
-Diving Society - a worldwide scuba club for PADI members, arranges trips, discounts
This is simply the agency. When you get to the Dive Center and your instructor, things will vary. The best thing you can do is go talk to an instructor.
