Blackwood, what sort of yellow regulator is that because I want one. N

Looks like a Mares Proton Octo.....actually a great second stage....I use one on a deco bottle.

Outside an old ss plate I have on a pool setup, I can't remember the last time I used a ss plate. That 2# AL plate sure is heavy ;)

Gotcha. Now where did I put that 20# plate...

While I like the idea of standardizing everything and keeping things as simple as possible, I take issue with the term itself, because it implies that there is only one way of doing it right and any other way can only be wrong. This reminds me in an uncanny way of religion and dogmatism, which IMHO has never proven right in the history of mankind. In general I'm very careful about notions of absolutism like 'only', 'right' and 'best'. But I guess this is only semantics.

Yeah, that's a really great reason to avoid DIR. Better move along now.

Well...back to the being a :dork2: diver now. Thanks everybody for helping me clear up on the ways of DIR. :) Now I know what DIR is and knowing it is half the battle. No there is no G.I.Joe please.

Maybe I'll go DIR after I finish school. Until then I just don't have $3,000 to buy that pinnacle Evolution 2 drysuit, underwears, and boots. I do have a Tech-BC so at least I have something. Getting the Jet fins won't be a problem and an octopus regulator. The only thing I lack is money so Cave Diver, I think for me, the reason why I don't go DIR is basically lack of funds. I think thats the reason. :)

You guys are quibbling and missing the point, even an aluminum plate is too heavy unless your diving tanks that are positive. Neutral diver/Neutral rig should be the goal if you are really interested in doing it right.
