Soggy:
I'm going to Home Depot in a bit and want to pick up some spare tank o-rings. What size should I get? This is for a yoke valve.
Just for the record, a yoke O ring is an ASE 568 DASH #014, with as 1/2" interior diameter, a 5/8" outside diameter, and a 1/16" wall thickness. If you cross reference the Danco plumbing chart at Home Depot or Lowes, it is also a Danco #9 O ring. Having said that, the only thing I use Home Depot O rings for (or any O rings other than those I buy for scuba from Reef or a similar supplier), is for breakaways with a plastic tie.

I'd also be less enthusiastic about Home Depot o-rings. Ameyb more so if I knew what good brands were. Buna-N certainly has a good reputation, there are literally WW2 era aircraft tires made of it that are still holding air.

But for my dive o-rings I splurged and bought slightly more expensive oxygen-safe o-rings for everything, made of more modern materials. I figured WTF, for another five bucks I'm covered for anything, and if someone else needs an o-ring, again, these can be used for anything.

Of course you've also got a nice set of brass picks, to make sure you don't scratch any stainless parts while picking them out, right? (G)

I used to keep a dozen assorted o-rings on a safety pin in the first aid kit (clean and dry) but then I found out about Altoids mini tins.
