Question Wide Boots

Received the Scubapro Delta 5's and they feel great, so definitely a keeper. A full 1-2 inches shorter than my previous boots, but still wide and stretchy enough. Seem really well made too.

Thanks for reporting back. What size did you get? You are a 9.5EE on a Brannock device (the foot measuring thingy)?

I have such a hard time getting footwear wide enough for comfort, wide versions on snickers still create discomfort on lengthy wear. Cycling shoes are even worse.

Although I don't remember having issues with dive booties, the Scubapro Delta boots are nice, I did not like them on some previous years, but it has been about 4-5 years since they did some design alterations and they are pretty good now.

Scubabro wearables have been getting better and better actually, their hooded vests are so much better now in the Yulex version, each new version of the Everflex always seems to improve on the previous one, they removed the stupid wrist zippers on the 5mm, just gotta go one step further and get rid of it on the ankles as well, hear it Scubapro?

I got the large size, which translates to a 10 and seems pretty close as far as I can tell. I usually wear size 9.5 or 10 shoes, depending on how wide they are. I can get away with a 9.5 if it's extra wide. My foot is probably technically a 4E or thereabouts given that it's about 4.5" wide (combined with my size/length).

In any case the next size down would definitely be too snug, and any bigger would be loose.

I like the altamas, with a neoprene sock. they come in wide versions.

I wear the altamas with Lycra socks for 3-5mm wetsuit, have been plenty warm and fairly neutral. If it is colder, I use sharkskin socks and remove the insoles. They have the largest group of sizes and works well. I did change the laces to bungee to make it easier.

Here's a few options:

- Scubapro Delta 5
- Altama Maritime Mid Wide with insole removed and a 3mm neoprene sock
- For a cheaper option than the Altamas, use the 3mm sock paired with something like this Amazon - Whitin Barefoot Trail Running Shoes

I like the looks of those trail running shoes as a possible solution with 3mm socks. The dumb question I have is where does the fin strap sit on those? Behind the back of the heel area or directly on the back of the leg above the shoe? Would the sock be thick enough to keep the strap from grinding too much on the back of the leg? Thanks.

Hi, like you, I am between sizes. Technically I'm probably a 8 1/2 but extra wide so I typically buy 9 boots. You mentioned getting the large size and said it was a size 10 but on every web site I see, the large is a size 9 so I'm confused what to try. If they are roomy, I'd like to try them out.

So the large boot might be a touch roomy for you since it sounds like I'm a full shoe size above you, but can always order some from Amazon to try and return (which is what I had to do a few times). I feel like the shoe size conversions on dive booties are kind of all over the place, you really just have to try them on. For you, either large or medium should fit with this boot.

Interesting. I read some reviews on the Amphibian boots and saw some that said they were way too narrow.

So, just to clarify. On nearly every website I’ve seen carrying them, the large was listed as size 9. If so, are you saying that they were so roomy that you sized down and they still fit great?
