So, just to clarify. On nearly every website I’ve seen carrying them, the large was listed as size 9. If so, are you saying that they were so roomy that you sized down and they still fit great?
Correct. I, as someone who wears a 9.5 extra/super wide shoe am comfortably wearing the large in these booties which Scubapro claims maps to a size 9. I also always wear lycra socks in them, though that doesn't make much difference in fit.

They stretch laterally more than shoes do so might be more forgiving on width, and these Scubapro boots are the widest booties I've owned. Those of us with really wide feet normally have to buy shoes a bit longer than our actual foot length just to get the widest part of the shoe to line up with the widest part of our foot as closely as possible, but if there's more give in the material that may not be as necessary and it's possible to get a truer-to-size length-based fit and downsize slightly. If that makes sense. At least that's my theory.

Interesting. I read some reviews on the Amphibian boots and saw some that said they were way too narrow.
You have to try them out. They have an “orthopedic-like” insert that works insanely well for my really wide feet. I’m a size 10.5 and use 11s.

Looks like a good option. The only downside I see is I usually like full sole boots. The trade off is probably more flexibility and they’re probably easier to get my fins on and off. I’ll have to give them a try. Would you consider these acceptable for modest shore dives without a ton of rocks?

Those lycra socks are key. Makes getting them on and *especially* off an easy task.
