Why not? It connects the Pacific and Atlantic sides. There's no way Tren Maya has anything to do with that project. Look at the route on a map.

I know its a long a$$ distance away. I saw a documentary a few years back where they were discussing building this freight corridor but they also discussed needing a major transportation corridor to support development and growth thru Tabasco, Campeche, QRoo. I may be full of bull crap if there is any connection between the projects but I wouldn't totally rule it out. There's no way Tren Maya has anything to do with that project. Makes as much sense as what they have done so far. There's no way Tren Maya has anything to do with that project. Look at the route on a map.

Their target market is tax dollars. Ever been to Majahual? Up the street from the cruise port is a hotel. Multistory, shiny new when we were there. The street away from the cruise port was 4 lane, wide and fancy. A few blocks inland was a new hotel. Well away from the ocean. No customers. The street leading to it only had shops open when the cruise ships were in. Cruisers don't need hotels. It seems the hotels are a bit upscale for this sort of project. I’m surprised they’re surprised at the low occupancy rates. Who is their target market? Locals? Tourists? It’s a curiosity to me.

Well, not exactly. That's the Isthmus Corridor not Tren Maya. Does it tie into it somewhere? Maybe. You can get to the Pan American highway from Hwy 307 too but that doesn't make it part f the same project.
Point is, the Isthmus Corridor would not be any different if Tren Maya did not exist, and vice versa. The Corridor is for freight, Tren Maya is for people.
OK. I didn't know what you were driving at. I can see that the rail line you showed could compete with the Canal, though. That's the Isthmus Corridor not Tren Maya. Does it tie into it somewhere?
