What are yall using? Even if not in the great lakes, think 40-45F bottom temps. Just bought my first drysuit so need to get some undergarments..

I was comfy with 4th Element Arctic + Xerotherms. (Opens the door to mix & match at other locations.) The Halo AR alone is said to be slightly warmer & less buoyant.

Before I moved south in 2016, I had gone to a FE Halo 3D with a Smartwool base layer. I also added a heated vest but that vendor is no longer in business. Thermocline I think was the name, or something like that? I used the FE socks and simple running gloves for liners under my dry gloves.

I personally run a Santi Bz400 or Bz420 Heated for long dives or a Flex190 or Fourth Element Arctics for shallower / shorter dives. Friends are running Halo ARs, Weezle, and DUI undergarments.

My standard undergarments are. FE Arctics Expedition + 70w Trojan Heated Vest + Merino Wool Heavyweight Base Layers + 3 layers of Socks (thin merino wool, thicker wool sock and FE hotfoot)

If runtimes are longer or it's beginning of season I will switch to a Halo 3D or BZ400. Personally I like the flexibility of the Arctics but I realize they are not nearly warm enough for a lot of people. The BZ400 are super warm but require a bit of extra weight and there are flexibility trade-offs

45ish and I'm getting cold after an hour with a 250g thinsulate. 7mm HO1 hood and dry gloves. YMMV

Which lake? Cause Lake Erie is a heck of a lot warmer than Lake Superior lol.

Weezle Extreme+ and external heat is the minimum for Lake Superior which is only warm at all fairly shallow.

Lake Michigan. Assume 40F.

Halo AR or Weezle Extreme+ with 60W vest. Heated gloves and socks if it’s (2+hr) long

No drysuit is going to be adequate for 90min dives in those temps. You'll need external heat for longer dives. But you also won't be on the bottom in 40F temps all that time either. So for the typical summer boat dive season you can do ok in a Halo, BZ400 or weezle extreme (no plus) without any heaters. But if you are shore diving in early March those are going to be inadequate since there's no thermocline, the profiles arent square and you're out there in actual 40F temps the entire dive - potentially shallow so you have all kinds of gas for that 45ft max or whatever too
