Headed to Bali and Komodo next month. Not looking forward to another 30 hr flight as I just returned from Vietnam! (that was a motorcycle trip around norther Vietnam!

We arrive 2 days before our dive trip starts in Bali and I was hoping someone can suggest a few nice resort/hotel to review? On the beach would be nice and close to the airport if possible?

TIA,

On the beach and relatively close to the airport.

The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa

I agree. The traffic in Bali is more than intense. When I was there, we used a driver. There is no way I would attempt to drive there myself. The locals seem to know the informal rules of who can do what when. I certainly don’t. And getting someplace takes time. I would recommend getting a driver …. It is worth it.

Hello - Since all of you have been to Bali...thoughts on Tulamben, and what other locations might be good to combine with Tulamben? I'm thinking maybe Nusa Penida and Lembeh. I'll be going for macro and of course hopefully mola mola and mantas...

I suggest you look at the Indonesia Forum for more precise information, in fact I will move the thread there.

That said, Tulamben is a three hour drive from Denpasar and Lembeh is in North Sulawesi an indirect flight away to Manado first and usually via Makassar.

We liked the Hyatt Regency in Nusa Dua. Lovely grounds, rooms, nice people and big clean beach. People dislike Nuda Dua as sterile and fake but we find it restful to hang put there. You can get car and driver if you want.

Agree with above, and it really depends what your looking for. With two days, if you want to relax and enjoy some luxuries, Nusa Dua is very close to the airport and has many high end luxury resorts. I've done the Grand Hyatt Bali and the Westin - both pretty amazing resorts - but isolated from the chaos, culture, and beauty of the rest of the island. 2 days is pretty tight for anything too far north - but very generally, the further north you go, the more authentic your Balinese experience will be.

Ayana would be my top choice, about 30 minutes south of airport. Nice quiet resort with great bar and dining. If looking for private relaxation, the bungalows at the Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay are amazing.
