Medical? Why do you need those to go diving?

In France they have very strict rules for diving activities. I have been told that in case of a control from the authorities, they will check for the medical certification, the dive profiles and the gases. Not a big deal if you respect your certification limits and you care about your health status before such a trip.

Glad to see the bureaucrats involved in a personal interest. Lots of money for their doctor friends when they should be spending time healing people.

Does anyone have experience with a rebreather friendly shop in cairns? I’m trying to source sorb and tanks for a trip with Mike Ball. Having a hard time finding anyone in that area that does technical diving.

For Vancouver Island - Tanks and Sorb can be easily obtained through Deep Fathoms - Bill Nadeau was national director for IANTD. He can also do fills. Bill I believe largely trains on the AP, there is a SF2 crowd over in Vancouver. Sorb can also be obtained in Vancouver very easily, as most will fly in there and likely take the ferry over to Vancouver Island (2 hour ferry, drive on/off, nice views on the way over).

There is also a great GUE crowd who are pretty easy going. Drop in dives in Victoria, however unsure how the crowd is for other rebreather divers outside of GUE, but they do allow non-GUE for drop-in recreational dives, so maybe there are a few interested. Check Jason Cook Diving.

Campbell River (Oceanfix.ca) has a good boat and regularly hosts rebreather divers for trips. There is a good local AP crowd from Nanaimo north. North of Campbell River is kind of remote, unsure how rebreather divers are handled on charters, however the diving up there is very nice wall dives. Unsure about the crowd other than the GUE team south of Nanaimo, appologies.

Highly recommend: SS Capilano, SS Gulf Stream. Good wall dives near Campbell River. Nanaimo has VERY accessible shore diving.

Note that all VI diving is pretty chilly. 6-10*C. Dress warm

I'm just wrapping up a week in Bonaire doing deep mix dives on a Chop. Technical Dive Services at Captain Don's was able to supply everything we needed.

Any advice on CCR support and guiding in Malta / Gozo? I am looking into it as an option for this summer for some wreck diving. In my list I only have this entry: Techwise — ask for Alan. Many thanks.

I used Techwise for my CCR training logistics and its a great set up. They have the gases, cylinders and lime you'd need. They have useful little trucks to shuttle around the island so you can dive wherever, and I believe they have a couple of boats through the season (we were there in January).

If you don't have accommodation, we stayed in an AirBnB right over the road that was cheap and very spacious with a full kitchen and things. There's a lot of fast food and restaurants nearby, but sometimes you might want to cook.

Aaron's Dive Shop in Kailua, HI on the island of O'ahu can provide gases and materials supporting CCR dives. They can order kegs of sofnolime and keep them at the shop until you arrive. They can fill O2, Nitrox, and Trimix, although not the same day, so, prior arrangement is necessary. They do things very much by the book, i.e. equipment being used higher than 40% must be O2 clean, all VIP/hydro up to date, and you must be certified for the gas blend you request. Additionally, there is a local Tec 100 CCR instructor that they collaborate with.

Tom Steiner on Gozo. The best if you want to be independent and you're experienced and have your team. Top notch tech-oriented centre.
