Progressive lens dive mask?

Can you have both for the same eye, reading & distance, or is it one or the other?

The multi-focal contacts are kind of like wearing bi-focal glasses, so yes you have both for the same eye, But I have a different strength "bi-focal" for each eye, if that makes any sense.

Some progress. I've found a company in Australia that will make multifocal lenses for dive masks. I also had an eye test today to make sure that my prescription was current. I mentioned contact lenses and the optometrist did some more tests and a fitting. I've been given a trial pack of contacts and been wearing them today. So far, so good. Pretty comfortable. Things have moved on in the 25 years since I last put the bloody things in my eyes. Close vision is not as good as with my glasses, but the optometrist said that was to be expected. Good enough though. I've never liked the idea of wearing contact lenses when diving, but could be a solution for now.

Some have found that progressive lenses do not work as well underwater. For me that do not work very well above the water either but my wife loves them (above the water. In any case, just because you have progressives above the water does not rule out bifocals below. Prescription Dive Mask did my full prescription. It is a bifocal and it works great underwater. I need to be able to see all of the info on my camera screen and I can easily with my prescription installed in my dive mask, an Atomic Frameless single lens.

This is what worries me most about getting a prescription mask, getting something that actually works. I can't really afford to spend $400 on a mask only to find I'm the type where progressives don't work underwater.

Yes, there are contacts that correct for both. I use Bausch + Lomb Bio True for Presbyopia. They are daily wear and work well.

I'm on my second trial (7 days each) of concentric lens multifocal contacts and not really sure about them. They are definitely a compromise. My optometrist changed the prescription to make my far vision better but now early in the second day of wear with these, I can tell that the near vision is much worse. They may improve as the week goes on. I guess your eyes and brain have to adapt and work together to figure it out and it takes some folks longer than others. Single-vision contacts and then some kind of "near vision" device in my mask might be ideal but not sure what options are available and don't want the stick-on type because I've heard a lot of complaints. Or are there good quality stick-ons?
