I’d like to introduce myself — my name is Triton Nexus… I mean, Earl
I’m Deaf and have been a diver since 1998. I joined this forum to connect with fellow divers and share something exciting I’ve been working on.


I’m currently developing plans for a future indoor dive facility that aims to become the deepest in the world — 200 feet. The goal is to beat the current record held by Deep Dive Dubai.


The project is called Triton Nexus™, and I’m working toward building it in Lansing, Michigan (USA). It’ll feature themed underwater zones, a scuba shop, a fitness center, an emergency wing, and even a VR experience room. I hope it becomes a destination for scuba and freedivers alike — whether you’re new or experienced, you’ll be welcome.


I’m still early in the process, but I’d love to connect with instructors, divers, and anyone interested in training or helping shape the vision.

Hey again! Here's a deeper look (pun intended) at what I’m planning for Triton Nexus™, a next-gen indoor dive center coming to Lansing, Michigan. The centerpiece is a 200-ft deep dive pool, aiming to be the deepest in the world—and it won’t just be deep, it’ll be themed at every level with experiences and rewards.


Themed Depth Zones:


Each level includes:
– A hidden collectible card cache
– Bring the card to the front desk to redeem a prize
– The deeper you go, the better the reward
– Some depths include photo opportunities


15 ft – Merfolk Grotto
– Actors dressed as mermaids/mermen during family hours

30 ft – Ruins of Atlantis
– Glowing ruins, ancient arches

60 ft – Titanic Wreck
– Sunken bow, eerie lighting

75 ft – Lost Research Lab
– Flickering lights, dive suit skeleton

100 ft – Deepcore Rig (The Abyss-style)
– Moonpool chamber, red lights, control panels

150 ft – Alien Ruins
– Glowing glyphs, mysterious platforms

200 ft – The Deepest Point
– Message on the floor: “Congrats, you conquered the deepest in the world.”
– One-time prize of your choosing (premium item)
– Front desk gets an alert and photo when card is pulled, staff gathers to cheer

Beyond the Pool:

Fitness Center
Still deciding on a partner brand, but let me be clear—not Planet Fitness. I’m planning something with serious training value for divers and guests.

Fuel Up Station (Café)
Serving protein shakes, energy smoothies, and healthy meals—because anyone who dives knows how wiped out you can feel afterward. Grab a recovery drink before you leave the building!

Oxygen Safety System
Full-face mask stations with backup oxygen every 10 feet, integrated into themed zones. Pipes run directly to surface-level oxygen pumps. Clearly marked for easy access.

Dive Bell at 200 ft
Yep. A real dive bell down at the bottom. Take a breather in a dry air pocket, just in case. I’m also planning smaller air pocket rest chambers along the descent path.

On-site Emergency Wing
I’ve been in touch with the local fire department, and they love the concept. Triton Nexus will include:
– Ambulance bay
– Two hyperbaric chambers
– Direct oxygen rooms and medical supply access
– All to reduce response times when every second counts.

@TritonNexus Wow, this sounds impressive enough I might actually come up and see it when it's finished. You've obviously put quite a lot thought into this, and it's very cool. I do have a question: How exactly do you plan to avoid the potential issue of people pushing the limits of their certs in order to dip into the next stage? I could easily see somebody deciding there's really no harm in dipping down another 30 or 50 feet to see the Alien zone, and potentially getting themselves hurt doing so. Obviously you'd have safety videos and waivers and such, but I was curious if you had plans for any sort of monitoring or supervision on the subject?

Beyond that, I can see this being extremely useful for tech diving practice/training. I know for my part, the idea of being able to practice something like deco diving (which I am not certified in, but would like to be eventually) in a safe, controlled environment would be a game changer.

That's a great question. I'm not the op but It looks like deep dive Dubai (I haven't been there) has a bunch of cameras and underwater pa system. if you're not andp or trimix certified, they give you nitrox limiting depth by ppo2. I'm not sure if you have to go with a guide.

@mrtechbench Going with a guide would be extremely limiting, in terms of use and capacity (not to mention being something of a pain and an expensive for a certified diver to put up with). My guess, the camera/pa system you mention, plus a safety orientation video, a hefty waiver, and a "diver's under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian" policy would likely do the job. When you think about it, in many ways, it's less of a liability issue than what a gun range would have (you can really only hurt yourself whereas a gun range you could kill someone else), and that's about what they have.

Also, I googled deep dive dubai, and they're cheapest scuba option is 1200 AED, which apparently converts to 326 USD. That's....rather steep for a day of diving. Like, I'm sure the overhead costs are murderous, but for real, I could charter a two tank dive offshore here for far less than that, and that's paying for a boat ride and such. It seems like a cool experience, but at that price point, we've moved out of "thing I might do occasionally if I lived there" to "bucket list, at best."

Betcha the insurance policy is cheap for this…especially in the land of the free to sue.

Getting an agency to sign off on open water dives in the pool would be massive. I heard that SSI may be open to that but not PADI.
