I know the boardwalk was damaged by the hurricane, and the website for Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area still says, "Buford Spring boardwalk is closed until further notice."

Anyone have a status update?

Went by there yesterday. The boardwalk is still closed (but fine), and there is a ton of graffiti. The "ranger" said that the state finally had bids on the project, so hopefully next month or the month after.

The "ranger" said that the state finally had bids on the project,
What project?

I heard rumors that boardwalk repairs etc were pending but maybe the end of January/February. We'll see. Given how long it took to get P1 back in commission after the 2023 hurricane, I am admittedly skeptical. Just hoping they get it open again before summer rolls around it browns out again for the season...
The Appalachian Trail has no problem letting volunteers fix stuff... in fact, they depend on it and are organized about it. Why can't the state spin up a non-profit to maintain these dive sites? (Or let one form?)

The North Florida Springs Alliance (non-profit) does assist with repair and maintenance in many of the state parks, and helped get Madison/Peacock back up and running after the hurricanes. Unfortunately there’s a lot of red tape and some stuff that the state won’t allow volunteers to assist with.
