Forgot my meshtec vest but had a 1.5mm neoprene vest in my bag so i used that.

Pleasantly surprised at the level of comfort and total lack of spot conductive heat loss.

I usually sweat like crazy no matter what I wear, and the neoprene gave no surprises there. But the neoprene kept it close to my skin, and warm, I might add. No soggy undergarments and little condensation on my trilam.

Anyhow, it makes me think neoprene has a place as an undergarment.

What's your take on this and your reasoning behind it?

Neoprene hits all the right notes, its flexible, relatively lightweight, and insulates. I've never tried wearing a wetsuit under a drysuit, I'd be concerned that it wouldn't vent as well as more traditional undergarments. While it wouldn't be an issue with just a vest, if you were going neck to ankles in neoprene, I'd also be concerned that you'd get cold in your extremities since you wouldn't be getting much gas mixing from your core to your legs and arms since the neoprene is closed cell and the air in your suit wouldn't distribute the warmth, you'd need your blood to do all the work.

For glove liners, 100%. Neoprene, especially 2-3mm is nice and tactile under a dry glove and insulates well even if your wrist seal or glove leaks and your hand gets a little soggy.

Agree with the neoprene glove liners. I love the Fourth Element G1. It's 1.5mm which is thin enough to keep dexterity but thick enough for good insulation and stays warm when wet.
