Any suggestions for a UK company which could supply me with a bifocal mask? I need a true bifocal, ie prescription (distance) lenses with bifocal (gauge-reader) elements. I’ve had no luck with a Google search. I don’t want clip-in lenses on a standard mask, or stick-on gauge-readers for a prescription mask. Thanks.

Cressi do bifocal masks, albeit not cheap, I’ve just started a thread expanding on this subject

While they are not in the UK, SeaVision did my progressive prescription in my mask.

you should be able to find an optometrist who will do that in the UK. I did find one here in Montreal but bit far away for you ! I suggest you buy in person and not on-line.

Cheers.

Monovision may be an option. I started with a custom bifocal mask but the bifocal line ended un interfering with my view through the 45° viewfinder on my camera. I now have a -2.5 lens in the right and a -1.5 left. I much prefer it to the bifocal mask and it's also a lot less expensive.

Having gone through this situation myself I thought I would add my 2 cents. Getting to that age where I have to face the fact that I need reading glasses on the surface quickly developed to needing reading glasses in the water. I couldn't see the settings on my camera, couldn't read the numbers on a SPG and couldn't get full functionality out of my dive computer.

On the surface I now use progressive lens glasses which means I can just see everything and forget that I am wearing glasses.

Having used the same single lens mask for the last 20 years (Oceanic Shadow) I tried some of the stick on's but none of them lasted very long. I even tried some of the masks that have replacement lenses. If they fit properly they work ok. Unfortunately for me one of the masks I bought leaked. The other gave me a sore nose after 30min.

Eventually I was recommended See The Sea RX in the USA: Home
They are not in the UK but they do ship there.

I contacted them. I sent them my prescription. I cant remember what modification they recommended but i followed their recommendations and I am very happy with the result. If you dive a lot then I would highly recommend speaking to a professional who can interpret your prescription for the best result.

They were very quick and efficient. The supplied a brand new Oceanic Shadow with custom fitted reading lenses. Shipped it internationally for me. Very impressed with the result. I will be ordering a backup mask as well.
