Many people replying like backplates and wings. Note Zeagle also makes that combination. I dove a Zeagle Ranger before switching over to a Zeagle Backplate and wing. There are other US based companies like DeepSeaSupply. All certainly worth looking at.

What made you switch? I'm still relatively new to the sport, and love my Ranger so I'm not even considering switching to anything else at this point... but for discussion's sake, why did you switch to backplate+wing over a jacket bcd?

I started doing some technical diving so I switched over for doubles. I initially used the wing from my Ranger which bolts on to the back plate. Then I found a better wing for doubles. Then I found a nice singles wing.

I really liked the Ranger as it is very comfortable. My only complaint is that it is bulky. Which is only an issue when traveling.

I swam, snorkelled, etc., since I was 6. I'm used to wearing just speedos in the water. I never wanted to wear a jacket BCD in the first place. So when I bought my own BC, I bought a BP&W.

You could say I "switched" from rental jackets.

PS. I'm 6'1"/34" waist and don't get me started on wetsuit size charts...
