I dove a Ranger for a lot of years and never had an issue with the weight system except for one minor problem. You can not use small weights in it or they will slip through the spaces in the cord. This is an easy problem to solve by getting the optional weight bags (aka- yellow thingies). Using them eliminates that problem and make installing and removing the weights a lot easier at the same time, they are well worth the extra cost. As for restringing it, it's not a big deal to do, although I have never understood why anyone would want to practice dropping weights.....pull cord, weights fall out, got it...in all the years I dove the Ranger I never once dumped the weights. For that matter, I have never dumped weights in 20 years of diving. I have heard and seen a lot of weight systems accidently dump weights, often times losing the pocket in the process, which can be expensive to replace or worse no longer available. That is not going to be an issue with the Zeagle, the cord can't simple fall out as other weight systems do and it for some reason you do lose it, it is still being used so replacement cords are easy to come by. Worse case, you could make your own out of string trimmer cord.
Those who trash the Zeagle weight system have either never used one or have some other agenda.
