Ok, I am completely new to the board and am posting this, my first thread. So hello to all to start off with.
Ok, my question is.....I am purchasing a BC, now I am devided between the SQ Pro QD+ or the Zeagle Ranger. I have read many good things out there on other boards ref both BC's. The problem I am having is.......I have tried on the SQ Pro QD+ at my LDS, there isnt any LDS in my state that sells Zeagle BC's. I have read that Zeagle BC's require a little more precise fitting than other BC's.
I would appreciate any info ref the two BC's and what is the major difference between the 2 of them to justify driving 8 hours to try the Zeagle on.
Thanks for any help in advance.......Jerry AKA "RAT"

i have a pro qd +and love it .the big difference is the pro qd is a jacket style and the ranger is a back inflate. you can't go wrong getting either one .

I love my Zeagle. I would not say that it requires more precise fitting, but that it *allows* more precise fitting. I haven't looked closely at the Pro QD+, but the Zeagle can be ordered in a "split" configuration. You can get a SM vest part and a Med shoulder, etc. Check out their size chart here: http://www.zeagle.com/index.php?submenu=HeavyDutyBC&src=gendocs&link=Ranger

A few comments, though.

If you are a newer diver, buy through your LDS and have them help you with the fit and give it a try in the pool.

If you are more experienced and think you might like the Zeagle, give www.scubatoys.com a shout. Larry is on this board and they do a great job. You can get a Zeagle from him with a full warranty online - good prices too!

Had a SQ Pro QD+ and enjoyed it for about 50 dives. Moved to a TPII. No comaprison IMO. The back inflate is superior for trim. Quality on SQ is very good. You won't go wrong with either but you will probably be happier with Ranger in the long run. Recently bought my wife a Zeagle and she loved her Jacket but is glad to be in the Zeagle now.

If your LDS has ProQD, they should also have the Seaquest Raider or Black Diamond. Either of these is comparable to the Zeagle. As stated, the ProQD is jacket-style; the Raider and Black Diamond are rear-inflate. Try both styles, preferably in open water, before deciding. One of the advantages of dealing direct with LDS rather than on-line is you "should" be able to try the items before buying--maybe not a brand new one, but certainly a loaner from one of the store staff members.

I have been diving with the Zeagle Ranger for several years and love it Now...... I did not at first. Getting comfortable with it took me several dives. I almost gave it up but finally found the comfort zone and love it. Never had to dump the weights so I can not comment on that. Great BCD with plenty of adjustments. I bought it based on the recommendation that the US Navy divers use it and am quite happy. I now live in Asia and when I pull it out the locals look at it in awe. Zeagles are about 2X as expensive in Asia for some reason.

Can you say "import tax"!!

Boy it looks like a bunch of us have that Zeagle itch...Gotta go, time to put some cream on. (wish I could just buy the crazy thing and get rid of this itch)

This is the only drawback I found to the Zeagle, and it was short-lived. There is a bit of a learning curve, with the back inflate and the weightpockets, but once I figured it out and got comfortable, I wouldn't trade it.
