This is a repost because I didn't realize there was a seperate zeagle forum:

So I have found a great deal on an older zeagle ranger. I dove it over the weekend and it's pretty cool. The only thing that annoys me is the zipper configuration on the pockets. I nearly dumped my weights when i was reaching into my pockets for my slate...oops I unzipped the wrong zipper. I noticed that the new rangers have the zippers reversed with a nice red zipper indicating the weight pocket.

Does anyone know when this zipper configuration was changed? Now the pocket zipper is in the front instead of the back. Makes more sense to me.

Any help on this would be appreciated since it may help me date the ranger that I may buy.

It was suggested that you could ziptie the weight pocket zipper shut to keep from accidentally opening it. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I Really like zeagle products because of the option to swap out different components. Finally a line of products that are well engineered with the consumer in mind.

Buy zipper pull tabs and put them only on your pocket zipper.

Yeah it has pull tabs on the pocket zippers already. It mostly has to do with the fact that i'm not used to the BC yet. My Avid only has one set of zippers so i'm just used to reaching down by my side and unzipping the first zipper I find. It's not a big deal but I'd like to figure out a way to identify how old the BC is. It looks fairly new but I'm sure it has been sitting unused for a few years at least. I do know that it was used at some point because there was salt or chlorine crystals in the bladder. I've since rinsed them out however.

I bought my Ranger LTD new 8/20/2002. Here's two shots of a pocket.

I am GUESSING that we made that change about 4 years ago...give or take a year.

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott,
Thanks for the info. Is there any way to tell from features or a serial number how old the BC is? I guess it doesn't really matter but i was just curious.

No. We didn't even put serial numbers on the BCs until a year or so ago.

If it is really important to you, take a few pictures - front, back, sides and send them to me. I can probably give you a "best guess".

Thanks,

Scott
