This weekend my wife and I went to look at gear at Scubatoys. I wasn't aware they sell Sherwood BC's. They had the AVID in stock. I had inquired about this BC here on the board. I tried it on and it seemed to be a nice BC. The only thing I didn't like about it was that the quick release strap clip in front of the cummerbund was attached by elastic and not the nylon type strap that you pull on to tighten and it wasn't tight enough for me. Maybe there was a way to get it to tighten but, if so , it wasn't immediately obvious to me as to how. Anyhows, I tried on the Zeagle Ranger BC. I remembered it as the BC that TexasMike is always ranting and raving about here on the boards(you'd think he worked for Zeagle or something ;) ). I was sold on this BC right from the moment I tried it on. It is so much more comfortable than the vest-style BC and there is alot more ease of movement(and has easily accessible pockets). I think I found my BC! I'll problably purchase it there at scubatoys unless I can find a better deal on it elswhere. Scubatoys is closer to me and open later than the other Ranger dealers in the DFW area. Any Ranger owners out there in the DFW area, if you don't mind my asking, where did you get your Ranger and how much did you pay. And also, what do you think of Scubatoys(prices, service, etc.). They were pretty friendly and helpful to me. TexasMike, please get in touch with me soon,if you would, I would like to talk to you more about the rest of your setup and that of the other Scubadillos. I would also like to find out more about that whole faceplanting thing with the back inflation BC's and how to counter it, if possible. I may go down there sometime this week (before the Possum Kingdom dive on the 5th) and purchase a complete setup if I like it after trying it out in their pool. I'm thinking about a Mares Epos with either a V16 or a MR 12 first stage. Oh, and also, my wife tried on the Zeagle Zena and was really impressed with it's fit and lightness in weight. We'll probably outfit her with it sooner or later(maybe sooner than later). But hey! Me first though! :tease:

I purchased mine at Sand & Sea Scuba (www.sandandsea.com). And Harold will stay with you as late as necessary to ensure your questions are answered and you're a happy customer. Just call him first to let him know you are on the way. They are located near the intersection of Greenville and LBJ.

Price was about $450 or so for the basic Ranger setup, but Harold did custom fit it by changing out the cumberbund to an XL. And he tossed in lots of freebies. And like many LDS's, I got a discount off the entire BC/Reg package because I was buying it all at once.

Harold will also barter with you, so if you have something he needs, he will give you store credit for it (swapped him a 350 chevy engine for his truck for a decent amount of store credit).

I'll e-mail you my comments on ScubaToys.
