Have a new Ranger BC and after reviewing the videos I wonder about the dump pouch system - has anyone had any issues/failures with their Ranger?

You mean the rip cord system for dumping weights? The only issue is rethreading after pulling the cord is a bit of a PITA but manageable. That said when I was playing DM with mine we did a few test pulls, never had an issue.

Or are you talking about the rear trim pockets? We have similar on backplates but have not tried to dump.

Referring to the rip cord system. Knowing the cable is threaded thru the loops but not secured on the end other than tucked in. Zeagle has stated no problems with the system, just wondered if the user community saw it differently.

I never had a problem with mine. When I pulled the cord it dumped the weights. Rethreading wasn’t super fun, but not a big problem either.

Thank you. Hope all remarks are similar to yours.

I have the Zeagle ripcord system on both my Ranger and my Stiletto.... I haven't ever used either, but back in the teaching days and working the shop, whenever we'd sell a Ranger or Stiletto we would always do a quick demo dump for the buyer....along with a demo for re-threading the cord... Always worked just fine and the rethreading took just a couple of minutes.

For me personally..... I keep soft lead in the Zeagle kidney shaped pouches with that black tip you see in the pic sticking out of the end of the weight pocket zipper when closed. When I get back to my boat I just unzip the pockets, pull the pouches and put up onto my transom extension so I don't have to haul all that extra lbs up the ladder. This has become so routine for me that even in an emergency scenario I would probably just pull my pouches from the upper opening of the pockets. The other thing about pulling the pockets from the topside of the pockets is that you have the option of just dumping 1/2 the weight instead of all.

Lastly and probably off topic.....but I also NEVER have all my eggs (weights) in one basket anyway. In addition to my BC weights, I also keep 10lbs on a standard weight belt. I dive primarily dry and if I ever need to doff my rig at depth for an entanglement or other issue.... then I want some weight on my person.

Thanks NW Dive Dawg especially for the tip about the pockets and the multiple locations for weights.

I've dived mine in horrific rocky shore diving conditions with substantial soft weights and hard, remaining secure
Front pockets only
Plenty manifolded tanks diving too, really deep, back then, in a wetsuit, shhhhh!
Then I changed it a bit
