as scott z mentioned to me, sometimes they trap air and he dosn't know why.

Interesting. He tells me Rangers don't trap air. They all trap air, but few divers notice, they add lead to compensate. In an upright position, the inflator hose connection to the bladder is not at the highest point, it's on the back just below the high point. In order to dump all the air, you have to lean forward and to your right. It's a design flaw, but you can compensate for it.

In the future, when shopping for a BC, make sure the connection point or an alternate dump valve (I prefer one on the right shoulder) is at the highest point when you are in a comfortable position to dump air.

With every new piece of equipment there comes a learning curve. When I bought my ranger they told me up front I would have to get used to rolling and such to manage the bubble like in a drysuite to get all the air out. I have never had an issue with it and just simply love it.

Here is my exact statement. :)

Many people use the Ranger BCs with zero problems, but some do seem to have a problem with "trapped air" for some reason that I cannot explain.

We have been over this all before, and I really don't care to argue with you again, Walter.

Thanks,

Scott

(Note to Pete: This is exactly why I told you I keep copies of every PM I deal with...:D )

I have a Ranger, my daughter has one as well. We both love the BC. I did have a problem with some roll when I first got it, but it was as stated earlier, it's a learning issue. The 2 bottom dumps have come in handy a few times, but I usually never use them.

I really like the ability to pull the entire inflator hose to activate the shoulder dump. Nice feature, but a possible failure point. Hasn't happen yet, and I haven't heard of it happening. If anyone has, please let me know.

Any wing type bladder - including a doughnut will allow air to rise to the highest point. It's just the nature of the beast. If I'm not in a bp/w, the Ranger is my next, and favorite choice.
