Very comfortable BCD, in fact, I really can't imagine a BCD being more comfortable. I was going to get a regular Ranger and then add the lumbar pad, but my LDS advised buying the Ltd. and then taking off all the stuff I didn't want, they credited me for those items. Thjat made the Ltd. cheaper than the Ranger plus the lumbar pad AND I got the extra D-rings, pocket in the waist cinch, etc. Great BCD!

Good advice - you might even discover that scuba is not for you, and then you're stuck with a stack of gear. Do the certification in rental or borrowed gear.

Seriously, several of us in our dive group all dive Rangers, with zero complaints. I know of a least one ranger with well over 1000 dives, it was finally just sent in for a new inflater and some cosmetic repair. Total cost was $3.00 for shipping plus the cost of the inflater head. Zeagle's warranty should not be forgotten.
Also, mwilding, the extra stuff on the LTD sounds appealing to me... as/if one advances one's diving, more of those things might be desirable. Actually, I removed my lumbar pad...too bulky and quite heavy when wet. I should probably sell it. Strap your doubles? Never seen it done... interesting.

I just see it as too many add-ons. There are already plenty of D-rings. Who wants to just strap in doubles? You can attach a pony to your main tank..

The Zeagle stuff is awesome. I was lookgin at the ranger and the ranger LTD and went with the Tech.... love my zeagle... modular design,,, great warrantee etc...

I guess it just depends on what you're doing. That's the best part of the ranger. Goes from easy rec jacket to full-bore tech. You may not want those rings now, but if you start down the tech path, you've got lights, reels, stage bottles, deco bottles, etc. that start looking for places to attach. (Or so I've seen... I'm NOT a tech diver by any means.... yet.)
