Has anyone had any incidents worth noting about their Zeagle Octo's? My husband and I both are having some difficulty with our Octo+MKII's not purging--can't tell if it's a manufacturer or user problem (doh!).

Brand new (bought in May, less than 20 dives old); when we're at depth, it seems like we've got to be in the water column just right in order to get the thing to purge. A friend used my gear and had the same problem too. It's like there's a darn ghost wandering in the hose--sometimes it will purge, sometimes it won't.

Of course, it always purges perfectly when I take it to the LDS and ask them to take a look at it!

Any thoughts?:blinking:

What is your body position in the water column when it will purge and will not purge?

When there is not much air in your BC to dump (purge), it is often necessary to position your body correctly to move that air to the right location for dumping. At depth, it is usually easier to stay ib a horizontal position and dump air thru a rear pull-dump. You will still have to position yourself to move that air into the position by the dump valve.

Oddly enough, I think it seems to happen most when I'm horizontal. When I'm descending or ascending and vertical, no trouble.

To give an example, I was swimming horizontally at about 70 ft.; when I gradually swam to a slightly lower depth (65 ft. or so), still horizontally, I noticed I had too much air, and tried to perform a quick purging burst to level out my depth. No luck/no purge. So I pulled at the dump valve to regain bouyancy.

Thing is, I was a little overweighted, so there was still (I think) a decent amount of air in the BC.
