Hi

I just bought a used Zeagle BC, not sure of the model, and it has the Octo + secondary air reg. I was wondering if this will work with the high IP of a Poseidon Cyklon 300 first stage, model 3070, I dive with. I was unable to hook this up because I will have to get an adaptor to connect my bc hose to the Zeagle reg to work.

Thanks,

James

I believe the Poseidon has an IP more like 170psi. Zeagle uses a more standard IP in their regualtors of 135-150 psi. I could not find a specific IP range for the Octo+ but I'd guess it was designed for the lower IP. This does not mean it couldn't handle the higher pressure. If I were you, I'd check with Zeagle before diving with it. It's probably good to go but always pays to check it out.

Zeagle lists the Octo+ as giving satisfactory performance with an IP range of 110-160 psi with an ideal range of 125-135psi - your Cyclon 300's IP should be around 181 psi. I wouldn't recoomend pairing them unless your detune your poseidon.

Ok thanks for the reply. If I rememember correctly, my Cyklon 300 was set when it was just serviced at 174 psi with 500 pounds in the tank. I know at 3500 psi the IP is 150 or so as I put on an IP gauge to the hose. I was really just wanting the BC since I have a Poseidon Octopus already and am very pleased with it. Will a standard power inflator fit on these Zeagles? Or do I need a special size that fits the hose. In the manual they say 181 psi is the max IP for this first stage. Thanks, James

Poseidon recommends setting IP on the Cyclon 300 to between 174 and 181 psi with 181 being the maximum, somewhere in the middle would probably be ideal, but since 181 is allowed, but without checking I assumed that it was a possibility. In any case, a standard power inflator will fit your Zeagle and you can ebay the Octo+.

Hi Jackie,

Yeah that is probably what I will end up doing, ebaying the Octo+ though from what I have read they sound like a good Octopus. I am going to try to get my friends power inflator off an old Dacor BC and put on this. Now if I can just figure out how to use a weight intergrated BC without the weights falling out, only have used weighbelts so far.

It's a pretty easy task to just tighten up the octo a bit so it doesn't free flow... and it may not if you just try it. And yes, you will need the Zeagle octo hose. You cannot really use adapters for that. A standard inflator hose has a smaller diameter opening, and will not supply enough air flow at depth to breathe and inflate. A new hose is about 30 bucks... If you can't source one locally, feel free to contact me.
