I am about to start divemaster training and will be attending graduate school in the near future where I will be doing a lot of Scientific diving. I am looking for a BCD that will be versatile and that will lead me into the more technical side of diving. I am looking at the Zeagle Brigade - Zeagle Brigade BCD reviews and discounts, Zeagle

Or would it be wise to just go right into a BP/W?
Some input?

Depending on what you plan on doing. A BP/W will do pretty much everything that you plan on ever doing.

As far as the Brigade. I have a Ranger which is about the same but with just a bigger bladder. It is a back inflate and is a solid BC...however it will not support diving doubles. The BC is streamlined as well as a BC can be and I have no complaints with my Ranger.

So I guess it comes down to the issue that if you are planning on diving doubles then i would go with a BP/W....if all you plan to dive is single tanks then you have a little bit more of a choice to make.

I know that I really like how my ranger fits and it is very versitile in size and adjustable and really like how it dives...but i also have a BP/W for diving doubles due to the fact that BC's don't really have the support to dive a set of doubles.

I know that it doesn't really answer your question as far as telling you what to get....however in the end it is up to you and what kind of diving you do plan on doing.

a ranger will support doubles with a set of mounting plates

...the Zeagle Brigade is DEFINITELY a recreational BC.....trying to turn it into a 'tech' BC would be like strapping a jet engine to a Piper Cub and calling it an F-22 !

If your future is scientific diving, I can think of no better source than our very own Thalassamania. Why not PM him?
