Can anyone tell me who is the manufacturer of the Z90 Regulator? Can they still be serviced by the manufacturer or is there someone else out there that will work on these?
I used to work in a shop that sold Z90 products. If I remember correctly, the regulator was made by a company called Sub Aquatic Systems.
The second stage was a very dependable design; a classic downstream poppet valve. The poppet has a hockey puck seat with an adjustment for the lever height and the orifice. Any real regulator tech should have no problems servicing it provided no hard parts are needed.
Edit:Good links from knotical
Well…another edit, the first link has good information, the second link is to a thread full of post by "the unknowing."
Thanks for the information regarding the Z90. The links were informative, however, I think, as noted by COUV (and in my very "Green" knowledge of the scuba equipment world) it appears that the 2nd thread titled "Anyone know about regs called Z90" was off the mark a bit.
I would like to continue to research this regulator as I was given two 2nd stages (one orange, one blue with crome type covers on the outer edge). Any other help would be greatly appreciated.
Is there anyone else out there that can help me out with where to have my Z90 regulator serviced? What about the company that makes them or use to make them?
Start with your LDS and ask them if they can service it IN STORE and if so get an estimate. Lots of shops do regulator work on equipment they do not sell. Your regulator has just a couple of o-rings and a button type soft seat; less than $5 worth of annual service parts. Now if there is something else broken, like the case you will want to know the replacement cost before allowing them to rebuild it.
If your LDS can not service it in house, start with the shops who advertise here on Scuba Board, they all have toll free numbers. Failing that, Google "scuba regulator service." and start contacting a few repair facilities.
