Some people carry a spare backup mask when they dive. In reality though I don't think I've ever actually seen someone do it. So, presuming that you have no backup - how would you handle the situation if your mask strap broke during a dive?

Normal open water dive , i would just hold the mask and end the dive. Tech dive well thats another story.

I'd probably hold it on with my hand and finish the dive, but it depends on the conditions and the purpose of the dive.

Same as Terrasmak.

hold it and suck in. I have superior nasal control.

Knot the strap. take my buddies. ...good question.

sir, where do you all carry all this back up stuff on your BP/W? I dont have any pockets. thats why your BF should have a Zeagle, even if you don't. All spare gear can go there, in his pockets. Do you all have "frameless" as spares?

Be a little pissed, and continue to dive. Replace it when you get to the boat.

Sort of like flying, something goes wrong with a piece of gear you make a precautionary landing.

To continue a dive with a piece of defective gear can lead to even greater strife if other issues are encountered.

You can dive again tomorrow, the next day, or the next and so on.

May be right, may be wrong, but it's what I would do.

That's the right thing to do. No doubt about it.

Who needs a mask? Vision's a little blurred, but the primary experience of a dive is the feeling of being weightless and being caressed by the ocean. I keep a spare in my gear bag. I'll use it on the next dive. In the mean time, I'll enjoy this dive.
