Do the masks with yellow lenses really make a difference in low vis?

I don't like any coloured lenses on my masks for the simple reason that they are altering your vision.

Would you wear sunglasses at night? Light is diluted enough in the water as it is. Why dilute it more?

That's just my own personal opinion though.

You will find people who love these masks - I have a Seavision with the red-tinted lenses but I'd pass on the tint the second time around, although I love the ground-in -2.0 gauge readers. Any filtration reduces the amount of light passing through the glass so you're better off with clear lenses.

In low-vis lake water? Yes, they make a significant difference. They make everything a little brighter and outlines a little sharper, for the same reason that people wear yellow-tinted shooting glasses.

But I leave them behind when diving clear spring water in caves, or tropical paradise waters in the Carribean because they also dampen the otherwise beautiful colors.

As for the pink lenses improving the color-correction in deep paradise waters--I haven't tried them myself, but those I dive with who have are split on their merits.

Any filter of any sort is going to reduce the amount of light getting to your eyes.

They will also bring the colour spectrum closer to normal.

Me, I want all the light. I can deal with stuff being extra green.
