This new DH1 light has ultra-narrow 5° spot beam and 355m throw, perfect for penetrating through murky water, spotting fishes hiding in crevices or under caves. There is innovative design for precise countdown alerts in minutes, ensuring you are aware of the remaining runtime.

What's the difference between this and the D26? Which I have and recommend as a good first light.

For xtar DH1 and D26 1600S, you could check differences on the specifications below:

@XTAR
There is no mounting hole on the DH1 light. May I know where you want to mount the light? Thanks!

We have made a hard goodman handle for the D26 1600S which has been working very nicely.
Below is a photo and labelled render of the handle.
You can see that the light slides into the centre hole and is secured using the mounting hole on the bottom of the D26.

Without the mounting hole another method of retaining the light would need to be designed and you likely be less secure and less elegant.

While I am happy with the D26 1600S, the new features of the DH1 are very attrtactive to me, particularly:
  • Mechanical Lock (the D26 1600S turns on by itself requently, notice the gaurd we made to prevent this from hapening)
  • 5° & 60° Beam
  • 21700 Battery

Thanks for your sharing! This new DH1 light is very suitable for searching from a long distance and hunting underwater. Many spearfishermen prefer using a simple lanyard around the wrist and hold the light underwater. For different ways of attaching dive lights, we know it might depend on dives, and it varies. Do you usually use your D26 1600S light for tech dives or others?

Typically I use it for recreational dives, or short deco dives. If burn time is a significant concern I'll use a corded light.

I always use a hard Goodman handle for my primary light, regardless of the dive.
