Hi,

I have spoken to a couple of shops in the UK about getting a BPW and for my budget I've been recommended the XDeep Zeos as a budget BPW model by both, apparently it is compatible with most other models (unlike some other budget models) and also good value. Has anyone used one of these?

Thanks
James

Please let me know what You think of the Zeos if You opted for it! I'm looking into replacing my jacket-style BCD with a BPW and for some reason I feel that the Zeos must be taken into consideration.

I did go for this in the end however haven't been out diving since I purchased it a month ago, which is frustrating! It does look like decent piece of kit however and comparing there is very little difference with the other brands.

Sounds sweet! Now, get in the water, please :D

I realise that this post is ancient but just realised I never actually got round to posting my experience with my BPW, bear in mind this is my first experience of owning a wing, so I can't compare to using other wings.

Before I first used the Zeos I adjusted it to fit me plus a bit of slack to take into account the dry suit, I was concerned that it would be a pain to put on being used to loosening a standard BCD and then tightening it, however the simplicity of just having the one piece of webbing and not several different clips and straps makes it dead easy to slip on. On the surface of the water I have no issues with being tipped face forward or anything like that, and it is easy to lie on my back too.

It is an enjoyable experience diving in it, it isn't particularly tight, but is a pleasant experience not having to readjust like I frequently had to do with BCDs I rented. I think the backplate helps to hold it in position and the crotch strap means it doesn't side up the back. It is great not having clutter around the front, and I've had no issues with not feeling the inflation on my side, although it is worth saying that in a drysuit it is quite a different experience than I guess it would be in a wetsuit, I've not tried that yet.

I'd highly recommend
a) a backplate and wing
b) the XDeep Zeos - although I have no experience with others and don't know how it will be after a couple of years of use, it seems very tough (much tougher than the BCDs I've rented have appeared to be) and I've come across no shortcomings or features I feel need improving.
