Hi, I have been out of the circuit for a little bit, and was wondering if you are still doing those dives on the 2nd saturdays of each month?

I can't find the messages with the calendar of dives.

Headhunter where are you?

Got a new housing for my camera and want to get in the water!

Thanks guys

Nope....Christian basically organized every event, but they have since defected to the "Dive Matrix" and called it the "SoCal Dive-In"

The Dive Matrix

That lasted a while, but died a painful death due to the lack of participation....

Let's start a new group :)

Hey Shaka, that's too bad.
I was not one of the most active ones. Should we create a new one, or join an existing one?
What about the Mo2vation dives?

Can we bring wrinkles dives back from the dead? Where is everybody?

I know, a lot of time people's egos get in the way of diving and then it results in these splits....sad really. I thought the Mo2vation dives were boat dives, not even sure if they still exist, best to check the Matrix :)

I think it probably makes more sense to have a local representative for each area that is content to sacrifice his/her time to setup the site, buy the burgers/buns/charcoal and everything else that goes with it, cause this is how it ends up in the end. Maybe the divers can bring donations for the expenses, but don't bet on it :)

I like the name "SoCal Dive-In"...we can leave it as it was in the past, with the exception of adding a local representative for each location. Now, do we have any volunteers? I will put my name on for this year, even though we are having a baby in 4 weeks :)

2010 SoCal Dive-In Schedule: (SoCal Dive-In events will take place every 2nd Saturday of the month and we will occasionally have both a Saturday and Sunday included for an entire weekend of fun.)

January 9th, Saturday - San Diego County - La Jolla Shores

March 13th and/or 14th, Saturday and/or Sunday - Catalina Island - Avalon Dive Park
April 10th, Saturday - Los Angeles/Ventura County - Leo Carrillo
May 8th, Saturday - San Diego County - La Jolla Shores
June 13th, Saturday - Orange County - Heisler Park
July 10th and/or 11th, Saturday and/or Sunday - Catalina Island - Avalon Dive Park
August 14th, Saturday - Los Angeles - Palos Verdes/Redondo area - Terranea Resort/Marineland
September 11th, Saturday - San Diego County - La Jolla Shores
October 9th, Saturday - Orange County - Heisler Park
November 13th and/or 14th, Saturday - Catalina Island - Avalon Dive Park
December 11th, Saturday - Los Angeles - Palos Verdes/Redondo area - Veteran's Park

Local Representatives: (You will be responsible for buying all the basic food, e.g. Burgers/Buns/Drinks and get to the site early enough to setup the EZ-Ups etc.)

San Diego County - La Jolla Shores (Roy R - aka ShakaZulu)
Orange County - Heisler Park
Catalina Island - Avalon Dive Park
Los Angeles/Ventura County - Leo Carrillo
Los Angeles - Palos Verdes/Redondo area - Terranea Resort/Marineland
Veteran's Park

PS. We can define the role of the local representative in more detail if there is more interest!

We should probably start a new thread for this.....

Just a suggestion, but it might be easier to just go with the flow with established groups.

DiveVets does Vets pretty much every Saturday and Marineland on Sundays. They also do night dives on Wed nights at Vets.

South Coast Divers does Laguna every Saturday. So does South Orange County Divers/Laguna Sea Dwellers. SOCD and LSD also do boat trips as well.

Power Scuba has regular trips out of San Diego. Dive Animals does both beach and boat diving.

Sea Divers out of Redondo has a full schedule of boat trips every year. It doesn’t do beach dives.

SOCDC, LSD, Dive Animals and Sea Divers are all clubs that have been around between 20-40 years. DiveVets and SCD are internet groups that have been around from 6-12 years.
