I'm a Fish!
Whilst shore diving in Qatar is limited to a handful of areas which are mainly man made reefs, there is a number of decent wreck sites off shore which I have started to slowly document as and when I can A get out on the clubs dive boat, and B get footage from other divers. With over 10 wrecks in the waters of Qatar that DSAC regularly frequents when the weather plays nice, there is a dive for all diver levels with the deepest being what's called the 50 meters tanker resting at you guessed it 50 meters. The below image is the Prop of the Pericles which will form the star of this series

Wreck Name: Pericles

Ship / Original Name:

Date Build:
1967

Builder: Ishikawajima Heavy Industries

Ships Purpose: Bulk Cargo Carrier

Dimensions: 233.2 x 31.7 x 12.2 meters

Tonnage: 38915 gross tonnage

Date Sank: 13th December 1983

Reason it Sank: On route to Aeden from Umm Said (Mesaieed) when a fire broke out in the Engine room. Was abandoned by the crew and was towed for salvage. The fire eventually spread, and the salvage was abandoned with the Pericles eventually sinking.

Description of the Wreck: Wreck sank upside down - originally the ship was proud of the surface, but over time has settled into the seabed. Shallowest section is the stern keel and rudder in 8 meters of water, a 20-foot diameter 5 bladed prop is still in place, and magnificent on good viz, there is a very large scour on the stern section, and even bigger scour on the bow section. general depth are 24 meters - with the bow section, sunk into the sand

Clive's crane I don't as of writing have much information on, but as one of our more deeper wreck sites resting at around 37 meters it is a club favorite and used a lot in our deeper training / depth progression. Essentially a crane barge that sank ended up resting on its side
