Hi All:
Here's a NEW video from last summer. This is the wreck of the John Morgan, a WWII liberty ship that sank with a full war load on it's maiden voyage after colliding with the tanker Montana. Tanks, jeeps and aircraft litter the bottom along with plenty of live ammunition. It sits 45 miles due east of the entrance to the Chesapeake Bay.
The sand bottom is about 100 FT, most of the dive is above this. Summer water temps average in the 50s below the thermocline. The video shows an "average" visibility day off Virginia Beach. I filmed this with a Sony VX2000 in a Gates Housing using a Fathom SWP 35 port. Settings included shutter at 1/60, f stop of 4 to 4.7, MWB at depth, natural light.
This is my first video using Apple Final Cut Pro as the NLVE and I'm just starting to understand the software. No video enhancement, only transitions and simple titles. I've switched to a new PD-170 in the housing and I'm adding on board lighting this season.
Oh, BTW, in case you dive the wreck, be smart and leave the ammo on the bottom...
Enjoy!
