Has anyone else experience minor leaks with this case? I had one of these as within 10 dives it leaked - luckily enough a small enough leak that there was no damage to my camera. I returned the case to Canon, who on the phone said it was a manufacturers defect, and replaced the case. With the new case, 2nd dive, leaked again. I feel it is important to state I do know what I am doing with underwater photography. (Check out my website at www.designbysue.com/gallery - 100's of underwater pics) I did have a case flood previously, but that was totally operator error (I had a leak detector in the case and caught the wire in the o-ring - duh) That was with my S-50 case and I have used that many dives before and since with no problems.

I called Canon about this new case leaking and they were very gratious and have given me a UPS label to return it. So I am wondering, am I the only one?

I recently sent mine back in along with my S80 for repair/replacement... Same thing, very minor leak that in my case was caused by a faulty latch. Unfortunately the teaspoon of water that my S80 was exposed to killed the LCD...

The good news is that both were under a year old and still in warranty and the customer service rep has led me to believe that they will replace both the camera & housing... Time will tell... I'll post an update one way or the other.

I am considering buying an Ikelite as a back up. I have a back up camera and case and now to get a back up case - that is getting rediculous! The Canon case just shouldn't leak!

Update as promised. I received a new WP-DC1 u/w housing and Canon PowerShot S80 from Canon along with a note from their service department stating that the replacement was provided as a courtesy and not covered by their warranty. Overall, I'm thankful for the replacement even though it took two months.

I've heard from at least one person that did not have similar results. Here is the process that I followed.

  • I first called to report the problem which occurred well within the 1 year warranty.
  • Then I filled out an online claim form per the advice of the Canon service tech that I spoke with. This proved to be helpful to have it documented that it occurred under the warranty period because it took me a couple of months to get around to sending it in for repair.
  • I shipped the u/w housing and camera back, minus all accessories per their instructions and included a letter that stated facts along with a copy of the online repair form.
Overall, I'm thankful for the replacement and satisfied with Canon's service. I'll likely keep diving with it until I get a housing for the 30D I purchased after the flood.

I had the same problem with one of my wp-dc1 cases.

Tried everything I could think of but always little droplets of moisture in the case after each dive. Fortunatly I use rolled up paper towels cut to fit the open spaces between the camera and case and they always did the job of keeping the moisture away from the camera.

Sent it back to canon but haven't heard a thing yet.

The other case seems to be ok. But I think canon has a probem with this case they are not talking about.

I suggest everyone use the product feedback link on the site and complain!

I think I have the same problem with my WP DC6 (and never had it before with the WP DC 600)

The thing is that I think there are to many drops for condensation, but it doesn't look like it leaks... could be I opened it before it was completely dry and some water got inside...

I´ll try the paper towels next time!
