'Had LDS change Pony bottle MTX second stage to Left hand side (white body). Now, gas outlet in air barrel, faces towards exhaust valve.
Is this normal?

No, this is not normal. Failure to place the spindle collar in the correct position (meaning the valve spindle hole points to the top of the case of the second stage) will result in a substantial loss of breathing performance. Ask your LDS to refer to page 15 of the MTX-R Second Stage Technical Maintenance Manual.
