Alright, so divings the easy part of all this, this email chat room stuff is the hard part. The shop that I've dove out of a few times said that there was a chat room here for divers from our shop, sort of a get to know you kind of a thing... so I do all of the signin stuff with ScubaBoard and then go to the "chat room" (wonder if the FBI is watching???) and they have me ask somebody's permission to join in. So what now, does he/she go thru my financials, my mug shots, my Suunto dive logs to see ..... WHAT? Does he/she email me back in a few days to tell me I'm worthy to join in?? Still new to all of this... like I said earlier, divings the easy part.

OK, so do I sign my name to this or what??? Diving Ron, there it never hurts to be thorough.
:10:

Thanks for the reply Doc, but I'm not sure I know any more now after speaking with you than before when my query went out? Still wondering about the chat room stuff...

Thanks for the kind words, and yes, do dive safely!

Ron

Hey Doc, If you're still out there, can you explain your reference earlier about... "don't feed the trolls".
I assume that it has to do with talking to a certain element of those reading/watching herein?

Or what, I'm still new to all of this chat room stuff.

Thanks for the assist!
Ron

We don't really have a chat room. You post questions, post comments, post opinions and others do the same in turn. These are called "threads". Some threads end (people stop posting) after just a few posts. Others go on and on and on and on and...

There are different forums with different categories and subject so you can try to keep some organization to the many subjects that are being discussed all at the same time. Good luck with that. So, say you're interested in dry suites. You go to the "Exposure Suits" forum and read or post in the threads.

Look around. Check it all out. Fill out your profile. Ask questions. Take the answers with a grain of salt.

But most of all, have fun!

Oh, and if you're really hard up for non-diving, non-information, just for fun socializing chat, check out the Water Cooler forum.

Welcome!

(BTW, I feel like I know you. :D)

Hey Rick,

Thanks for the info, I meant no disrespect to anybody by calling it a Chat Room, didn't know there was any difference is all. Now I'm better educated so I won't be doing THAT again.

Interesting comment Doc made about "trolls" so now my interest is way up, as they say, "the plot thickens"...

As I had mentioned earlier, I just didn't know how to "get into" the "thread creation and storage facility" for the place that the Dive Shop said to go to. (Notice that I didn't call it a chat room, pretty clever, eh!!)

SO that being what it is, we have just one last thing to resolve.... now if there was a picture of my ugly mug, I'd usually say something clever like, .... aw you've seen me before my picture is the third one from the left on the wall at the Post Office.... BUT, since that ain't the case here, I haven't a clue as to how you may know me, and I don't think that NOW would be the appropriate place or time to try using some pithy remark about things in general.... so we'll just leave it at that.

Thanks, Ron

To All of my new found friends here at ScubaBoard,

Thanks for the wonderful conversation, it's getting past my bedtime, so gotta go. Looking forward to discussing with you again soon.

Thanks, Ron

Hi Ron. Welcome to the board. There are lots of great threads here to participate in or just read. Have fun.

Ron, I might offer that you fill out some of the info about your identity. Many people like to know where the person they are talking to comes from. It increases the bond so to speak.
Many of us spent a while "lurking" on the board before posting any questions or thoughts. Doing so gives you an idea of how things are discussed.
Have fun.
