MDDOLSON bubbled: VD is not a replacement for diving, but a similator to allow you to bask in the meories of last seasons dives.

OMG, soo many jokes in that line alone...where to begin. VD..last seasons dives...lolololol

Are you suffering from scuba withdrawal? Then you need Virtual Diving or VD for short.

LMAO, Mike!

I'm a cold water weenie, too! If it's not a southern ocean trip, then I spend my time during the winter, if the weather's too cold to be outside at the rock (which it has this year), in a climbing gym. Anxiously awaiting warmer temps! ;-0
Until then, I've volunteered to be above water support for the drysuiters in my group, if they want. :D

Here's a great winter activity!

You get to put your suit on, wonder around on the ice, staying next to the hole, and watch the local bozo's jump into icey water to raise money for local charities.

You need a couple of divers , and you need to be rescue certified.

I do this in a dry suit, with mask and fins.

People call me stupid for winter diving!
So I guess it not stupid if it's for charity?

I live in Rochester, NY and it has been below 20 for a few weeks now, Lake Ontario is around 35 degrees! My husband and I called our dive master and booked some time at the local high school swimming pool so we could keep up with our diving, its not the lake or ocean but it has to do for now...we also were just certified this past July...

While it requires some additional training I highly recommend ice diving. I just did my ice diving certification dives last weekend and the experience of looking up through the ice sheet is truly amazing. The other plus is that it lets you dive year round.

Winter blues? Thats simple, I bought nice pair of 185cm K2's and I ski my arse off.

Can't beat em, join em:cool:

The beauty of combining diving with a winter sport (preferably not sissy skiing...get yourself a snowboard :D ) is that the two seasons dovetail so nicely...
