d33ps1x,

Yes, both photos show the 45lb Signature on the left. The first photo has the 30lb Signature on the right, the second photo has the 45lb Standard (bladderless) wing on the right.

Bit hard to see in the pic on the left, but the tubes parallel to the tank are slightly fatter when fully inflated. Doesn't take much difference in the external dimensions of a 3D shape to dramatically increase it's volume, hence the 50% higher capacity in almost the same size packaging.

I chose the pioneer over the eclipse due to cost. Didn't see any reason to buy the eclipse. If I get into serious diving like wreck penetration, caving, locations I'm worried about the wing material, I'll probably be diving doubles anyway, so for a singles wing, the Pioneer will be just fine.

Does anyone know why the price difference between the eclipse and pioneer wings other than the eclipse is new? Also, don't you need a STA for the eclipse? I'm casually in the market for a bp/w...

I am in the same situation as you. Right now I am leaning towards a Deepoutdoors 40 lb for doubles and a jet 27 lb for singles.

I'm about to buy a Halcyon BP/W.

My plans are to dive large single tanks in open warm water - never more than a 3mm wetsuit - 1mm, skins or even naked - LOL- when possible. The LDS wants me to buy a Pioneer 36. I want to get by with a Pioneer 27. Even with a SS BP, weight is not really an issue. But the LDS says that I need the extra lift while waiting to be picked up by a dive boat in 4 - 6 foot seas. I haven't been diving in those conditions yet. Only freshwater experience so far.

I am trying to design a great set of gear, yet want to be a minimalist when possible. The pleats on the 36 seem to be a potential failure point and maybe more drag, too.

Anyone had floatation problems with a 27? I don't need the eclipse. The little money difference between the 27 & 36 is not an issue.

Thanks.
