This thread was under the "technical discussions" forum when people responded. I don't think it is inappropriate to move it now. A lot of divers just beginning their training read the "basic scuba discussions" forum and some terminology is different for them. There is no such thing as a "stroke" open water student or anyone just beginning their training.
 
I agree that the offensive term STROKE is inflamatory and while the discussion in the Tech forum was handling it as well as can be expected it is absolutely reprehensible to move it out into the light of day and scar the precious minds of our delicate newbies!

And I'm not kidding either....
I don't even own a goat....
