Looking for information on new-to-you dive gear? Whether you need your first mask for your open water class, or you have been diving for decades and are considering a rebreather, this forum is a flame-free environment for you to ask questions and get perspective from divers who have already been there. Whether you are looking for an explanation of features regarding an individual piece of kit or want to discuss pros/cons of various package options, this is the place to start.

Look through the existing threads and if you don’t see your question addressed, start a new thread! The more information you provide (your training and experience level, and type of diving you currently and/or hope to do) the more targeted the responses will be.

Are you looking for an opportunity to give back? To provide the benefit of your experience to someone who has questions you have already considered? We welcome your contributions! To keep this forum focused, we ask that you use the following guidelines:
  • Please keep the discussion limited to equipment that is appropriate for experience level. In other words, don’t bring up things like multiple gases and rebreathers with new OW divers.
  • Keep replies focused on the subject matter; off-topic posts will be deleted.
  • Provide rationales for your recommendations and opinions, good or bad. Additionally, backing up your responses with experience/s is going to help the OP much more than simple statements of opinion.
  • Avoid saying a recent purchase decision was a mistake. :)
  • Keep in mind that budget is often a consideration; discussion on value is always appreciated.
  • Remember that divers come in all shapes, sizes and ages and dive in a variety of conditions and purposes. No single product will ever be ideal in every case.
A note to all: Keep in mind this is in the Basic Scuba Discussions forum and must follow the same special rules.
