Why does Suunto not make a computer with these specs:

Similar layout to the Zoop
Function that of a bottom timer
Phosphorescent Display (Same as Zoop) No Backlight
Built in Bungee Strap System with optional Wrist Strap
Integrated Digital Compass

Other Similar functions of a backup Computer, such as gauge mode

Optional Depth Alarm
Optional Accent Alarm

The Zoop is great but lacks some of the functions I have listed above

They would sell a ton if they were to make one

You're asking for chocolate-frosted salmon. Everyone likes chocolate... and everyone likes salmon. So why not put them together? You'd sell a ton... right?

:D

PS - Suunto has the highest market share of any dive computer manufacturer. By far. (Think TWICE their nearest competitor) So I'm guessing they must be making some computers with what people want.

Why no backlight? I think the Zoop/Gekko phosphorecent display is a pita as it dims over the course of a dive to be almost unreadable. I'd have to hold my light on it 2-3 times during an hour night dive. Which makes almost no sense since I just shine my light on it and read it when needed instead. My last LCD based computer had a backlight and I never used it.

I don't actually get why people want their $500-1000 computer to function as a bottom timer either. I have one of those on my wrist also. It's called a Casio G-Shock. Paid all of $60 for it a few years ago. It functions as a bottom timer in stopwatch mode. Allowing my 6x more expensive computer to function like one.

I personally prefer Strap with Bungee optional. Because I wear it on my bare wrist. My Suunto strap also has folds in it to allow for wetsuits as well.

Everything else on your list is called the Vyper Air Black. It does have the backlight. You can change the time it stays lit from 5-30secs.
