Ditto. Thanks for good information that helps us make informed decisions regarding deco and diving. Off topic, but worth mentioning nonetheless; someone asked me last night if I were aware of any opportunities for U.S. Air Force Nurse Officers to work with NASA in the area of diving medicine. I told them I hadn’t a clue, but knew where to ask.

Dr. Deco,

Are you aware of any opportunity for officers in the Air Force Nursing profession work with you in diving medicine and research?

However, in bubble dynamics, the radius of a bubble (from dissolved gasses in liquid) gets bigger with liquid density, including oils and several types of organic fats. From this, I can guess that dehydration may increase DCS risk (as well as excesive weight).
Another thing that affects bubble radii is the velocity of liquid flow in a tube/vessel. Perhaps this is one of many reasons why strenuous diving increases DCS risks.

That's quite a good deal on your recompression class, Dr. Deco, including housing and meals:) zeN

Hydration is good for more things than avoiding DCS. Overhydration is probably not good either but not nearly as bad as dehydration. I know what its like to be dehydrated on the soccer field when its 85+ out. Sweat slowing down or stoping and chill feelings even though its hot is heat exaustion. I know i've had it 3 times and know that plenty have other people of had it several time snow that I know the symptoms. Dehydration contributes to that. I'm guessing if its bad in soccer its worse in diving.
