Honestly, I think it gets too complicated when they are going to have like a "tech" vs. "rec", and it just doesn't seem to serve my purpose well... as someone who is strictly going to remain recreational. Don't mind to dabble in a cavern, but not enough to care about diving doubles. The seacure part... just kidding.

I agree. Two versions? That's nuts. How can people keep that clear? I started trying to keep track: "version one"..."version three". Damn!

So is this a real thread, or just a troll that belongs in whine and cheeze or another community forum?

Are your questions serious?

Divers can (or just as in life one can) learn a lot from ANY course, if their intention is to learn. If your intention is to get a pat on the back and a card that says you're edumucated, then that's what you'll get.

If diving doubles doesn't interest you... then don't dive doubles. You don't HAVE to take more technical courses to be a good diver. One can remain a recreational diver, who never does a dive where there's more than a 3 minute safety stop required, for the rest of their life if that's their desire.

It bugs me that they say my seacure mouthpiece is not DIR compliant!!

Two choices: get over it, or get rid of it.

:eyebrow:

It's not really that hard.

EDIT - just read further that you were only kidding about the SeaCure mouthpiece. Either way, some people like DIR and embrace it. Others don't. Whatever. "Dive and let dive!"

This thread is probably the worst attempt to bash GUE that I have ever read. :mooner:

Yeah, but that's simply because you haven't been around here all that long.

Howard, perhaps you don't take my humor well. It is a serious question, with a little mix of my dislike of rigidity. But as I understand, much of the skills taught in GUE-F is essentially the skills taught in a cavern/intro cave course. Why go one path, when the other path might be more interesting.

With people here having gone both routes - it is a serious question. But hopefully you still retain a sense of humor.

Who is bashing GUE? If you can not give clear guidance, except to call people who ask a simple question "uneducated", it does sound a little odd.
